After many years, I have returned to a collection of photographs taken earlier in my practice and found new inspiration to begin a series of oil paintings. With the passage of time, both my perspective and the world around me have shifted. In an era shaped by accelerating technological change, increasing extremism and environmental uncertainty, it now feels that it is humanity - not nature - that is most at risk. This emerging body of work reflects a growing sense that the lights may soon go out, signalling the fragility of the systems and environments we rely upon. By documenting my surroundings as they exist now, I am attempting to preserve a moment in time, conscious that this environment may not endure.
